I had my first visit today. I had blood drawn on Monday and Wednesday because they like to see the the HCG (pregnancy hormone) is doubling every 48 hours. Well, first thing the nurse came in and said "the doctor is worried about your second HCG level because it didn't fully double so we're sending you up for an ultrasound right away". Of course, my heart sinks and I'm thinking, "Here we go again". As I'm trying to hold back tears in the ultrasound room the technician comes in and finds my little bean's heartbeat right away! Beating at 110-120 beats/minute! So crazy. Then the doctor took a look and said everything looks just right for 6 weeks along and that he is not concerned about the HCG level. He said it could be lab error or that my levels have begun to plateau a little earlier than other women. He said every pregnancy is different and they use ranges but not everyone fits all the time. They are repeating the ultrasound in 2 weeks to make sure they see more growth.
As I was sitting waiting for the doctor, I couldn't help but think of all the trouble this little 3mm baby is causing! But hopefully all the worry will be worth it in the end when we get to hold our little one in our arms.
Continued prayers!
